How do you define an eye clinic?
To me, an eye clinic is where we perform the most vital surgery of a lifetime, taking full responsibility for your vision from start to finish.
What are the advantages of cataract surgery at Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic?
The greatest strength of our cataract surgery is customization. We offer a wide range of intraocular lenses (IOLs) tailored to each patient's unique characteristics, along with various surgical techniques, including advanced laser-assisted cataract surgery.
Why should patients choose Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic?
We only recommend surgeries and treatments that are truly necessary and effective for the patient. This honesty leads to results that satisfy both the patient and the surgeon.
How do you want patients to remember Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic?
I want us to be remembered as a clinic that excels in surgery, a safe clinic built on years of experience, and a place people feel confident recommending to their loved ones.
Which surgical methods are currently the most popular during consultations?
In the past, LASIK and LASEK were the most popular choices. Recently, however, SMILE LASIK has become increasingly preferred as it incorporates the advantages of both LASIK and LASEK.
While many patients come in after researching various methods online, they often struggle to decide which one is truly the safest for their eyes. Since eye surgery is a critical decision, I focus on recommending the specific vision correction method that best fits each patient's needs and clinical eye condition.
In your opinion, which vision correction surgery is the safest?
Since every individual has unique eye characteristics, such as corneal shape and thickness, I cannot pick just one as the safest procedure.
I believe the best surgery is the one that is most precisely matched to each patient's specific eye condition.
What do you do when a patient insists on a surgery that is not right for them?
Through in-depth consultation, I guide them toward the method that will provide the best possible long-term outcome and ensure their safety.
Do you have any tips for those coming in for a consultation?
If your eyes are extremely dry, it is difficult to obtain accurate test data, and inaccurate data can lead to imperfect surgical results.
Even if you are visiting only for an examination and not for surgery on the same day, using artificial tears frequently beforehand to keep your eyes hydrated will lead to more precise data and a better overall result.
Any final words for your patients?
To prevent the risk of re-operation, surgery must be performed based on the precise state of the patient's cornea and lens. Since a 100% satisfactory result cannot always be guaranteed for every single case, it is vital to have an in-depth conversation with your surgeon before proceeding.
I believe that only through this mutual understanding can both the doctor and the patient achieve a truly satisfying outcome.
