Q&A

  • What does an eye clinic mean to you?

To me, an eye clinic is where people entrust us with one of the most important decisions of their lives. From consultation to recovery, we take full responsibility for protecting their vision.

  • What makes cataract surgery at Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic different?

Our greatest strength is personalized cataract care. We offer a wide selection of intraocular lenses (IOLs) and customize every treatment plan to each patient's vision, lifestyle, and eye condition. We also provide advanced laser-assisted cataract surgery for greater precision and safety.

  • Why should patients choose Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic?

We believe the best treatment is the one that is truly right for the patient. That's why we recommend only what is necessary, creating trusted outcomes that satisfy both our patients and our surgeons.

  • How would you like patients to remember Gangnam Smile Eye Clinic

I hope patients remember us as a clinic they can trust—one that delivers outstanding care, puts patient safety first, and is worthy of recommending to their family and friends.

  • Which vision correction procedure do patients ask about most often?

In the past, LASIK and LASEK were the most common choices. Today, however, SMILE has become the preferred procedure because it combines many of the advantages of both. Many patients come to us after researching their options online, but the safest procedure depends on each individual's eyes. That's why I recommend the treatment that best matches each patient's eye condition and visual needs.

  • Which vision correction procedure is the safest?

There is no single procedure that is the safest for everyone. Every eye is unique, with differences in corneal shape, thickness, and overall eye health. The safest procedure is the one that is carefully selected based on each patient's individual eye condition.

  • What do you do when a patient insists on a surgery that is not right for them?

I take the time to explain why that procedure may not be the safest or most appropriate option. Through a thorough consultation, I help patients understand their choices and recommend the treatment that offers the safest long-term outcome.

  • Do you have any advice for patients preparing for a consultation?

If your eyes are very dry, it can affect the accuracy of your preoperative measurements. Since precise measurements are essential for the best surgical outcome, I recommend using preservative-free artificial tears regularly before your consultation to keep your eyes well hydrated—even if you're only coming in for an examination.

  • Is there anything you'd like patients to know?

Every patient's eyes are unique, so the best surgical outcome begins with a thorough evaluation and an honest discussion with your surgeon. While no procedure can guarantee perfect results in every case, careful planning and choosing the right treatment for your eyes can significantly reduce the need for additional surgery. I believe the best outcomes come from trust, open communication, and making informed decisions together.
